About Broadbeach Surf School

Marcel Cole - Director

Grew up surfing the Gold Coast in the 80's. During his overseas travels he developed a real passion for surfing realising that the ocean had a lot more to offer than just waves. "We can learn so much about life and ourselves from the ocean. I just want to share the joy and happiness it gives to me with everyone else". Marcel has coached pro surfers to world championship level and won awards for his work coaching people with disabilities. He was 2003 Surfing Queensland Coach of the Year.

Jaz Hosking - Chief Instructor

Born and bred on the Gold Coast Jaz has been surfing ever since she can remember. A talented surfer with a great appreciation and understanding of the ocean she was a regular member of the Gold Coast Junior surfing team. Jaz soon discovered surfing contests and competition were not really her thing preferring to simply enjoy the ride and go with the flow. Aspects that comes out in her coaching style and general approach to life.

Will Forgan-Smith - Instructor

Will grew up surfing the Gold Coasts northern beaches. He has been with Broadbeach Surf School since the beginning as a young grommet. He is one of our original trainees having completed his traineeship in 2006 and coaching ever since. He is an excellent surfer who has travelled extensively including Hawaii. A warm, sincere individual whose positive outlook and outgoing nature make him a popular instructor with students. Will is currently completing an engineering degree .

Jake Oksanen - Instructor

A Gold Coast local who has won a swag of junior surfing contests. Jake's surfing is full of energy and tricky moves indicative of an individual who just loves to have fun. Combine this with his sensitive, considerate nature and you gain an insight into Jake as a person and a coach. He also has a passion for snowboarding and dirt bikes.

Hannah Henderson - Assistant Instructor

Hannah is the most recent addition to Broadbeach Surf School. She grew up around the ocean and whilst a relatively late starter has discovered the joy of surfing. Her keeness, enthusiasm and willingness to learn ensured that she would become part of the team. She is a confident individual who has wonderful people skills so people feel good just being around her. She is about to begin her traineeship with Broadbeach Surf School.

Anita Cole - Office Manager

The 'mum' of Broadbeach Surf School Anita looks after everyone as only a mother can. If you have a question ask her because chances are she will know or know the person who does. Anita is always very helpful and supportive. Her friendly, considerate persona will ensure you feel comfortable and welcome during your time at Broadbeach Surf School.
